Planning on heading to Sunriver over the 4^th of July weekend? You may have noticed that many of the local and beloved annual events in Central Oregon have been cancelled, due to COVID-19. While we’ll miss these treasured activities this year, we are pleased to announce some activity ideas for your family while here. 

Sunriver’s close to 40 miles of paved trails are open for walking and biking. Feel free to explore the area on foot or by two wheels. Click here to view a map of the pathways. Plan your route ahead of time, or head out and plan your next stop at one of the many maps located throughout the area.

There are also many areas that are available for hiking during this time. Enjoy the paved Sun-Lava Path from near circle 7 in Sunriver and head to Benham Falls. Find a map of this area here.

Eating out is always a fun vacation thing to plan on. There are lots of local restaurants open and ready to welcome you. Whether you feel more comfortable eating in the comfort of your vacation rental, or enjoy the good old feeling of going out and being around others, many local businesses are offering both options. The Sunriver Stables are open for trail rides. This is a great way to enjoy an afternoon viewing the area and breathing in our fresh mountain air. You’ll want to be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Call 541-593-6995.

Live Laugh Love Art, located in the Village at Sunriver, is offering Paint at Home options. If you’re looking for a fun and creative family activity, visit their store between 12pm and 4pm to pickup an art project to go. They are also offering in studio classes with limited seating. Fireworks are a must on the 4^th of July. While they are not permitted within Sunriver you won’t be sorry that you visited Central Oregon this year. Head 20 miles north to Bend and enjoy the Fireworks show that is launched from Pilot  Butte State Park. The show can be viewed from almost anywhere in Bend as long as Pilot Butte is in sight. Head to one of Bend’s many parks (not currently open for playing) or even to Les Schwab Amphitheater, lay out a blanket and enjoy the show.
