The Great Nordeen is a Bend tradition and fitting tribute to Emil Nordeen. Emil Nordeen, who grew up in Sweden, became a Bend icon after settling here in 1920. He’s best known for twice winning the 42-mile Fort Klamath-Crater Lake ski race (1929, 1931). In 1927, he helped establish the Bend Skyliners Club as a mountain search and rescue and skiing promotion group. This 17th annual Nordeen includes X-Country freestyle race and fat bikes. Races are 30k and 18k. Check out the MBSEF website for more info.
