Vacations can be spendy. With travel costs, housing, food, souveniers and activities, things add up. Here are some great ideas to do to keep the kids busy without spending too much on your visit

Fort Rock Park – Located on East Cascade Road, between circles 4 and 11 in Sunriver, Fort Rock Park has a couple really fun play structures, swings and tether ball. There is a large kickball/soccer field with lots of extra grass and trees for sitting and enjoying warm summer days. There is a pickle/tennis ball court and basketball courts. This park has it all. You may find yourself able to spend a large portion of a day here, for no cost. Pack a lunch, lots of drinks and head to Fort Rock Park. The kids will thank you (and fall asleep early)!

Paulina park (the park outside of SHARC) – The Paulina park is another great area to spend some time while you’re in Sunriver. Bring your little climbers over here so they can scale the rock walls, enjoy the park slide or run around the beautiful green grass. Be sure to bring some snacks and enjoy the picnic area while you watch the kiddos play. Play disc golf? Then bring those discs and plan on hitting up the 9-hole, par 29 course.

Walk or bike the trails – Did you know that Sunriver has over 30 miles of paved pathways that weave throughout the property? As you bike or walk these trails, you’re sure to see some wildlife and find some treasures from the forest. Want a fun idea for the kdis while you stroll and enjoy nature? How about a scavenger hunt? Tell the kids to find 5 items as you go. Perhaps a pinecone, a deer, a bunny, a smooth rock and a stick. Or an insect, a bluebird, a brown leaf, some animal tracks and a log? The options are endless. This is a fun way to get into nature with the kids and be able to enjoy yourself without worrying about how much you’re spending.

We hope this helps. Have FUN!
