Sisters Wild West Show @ Downtown Sisters

The Sisters Wild West Show is similar to the Buffalo Bill shows of yesteryear.  This is the 6th year for this very fun and unique event. It is a tremendous success. This year’s location will be in downtown Sisters on Oak and Cascade St.  and Creekside Park.  In addition to the fun performances, there will be a variety of Arts, Crafts, Antiques and Food.   Entertainment includes 6 western skits with a western facade town for background and exciting demonstrations.  Country Western dancing at 6pm.

MOTHERLOAD is a crowdsourced documentary in which the cargo bicycle becomes a vehicle for exploring motherhood in this digital age of climate change. The film explores the people behind this push to replace cars with purpose-built bikes, she learns about the history and potential future of the bicycle as the “ultimate social revolutionizer.”

Join the revolution and bring the whole family. We encourage everyone to bike in, bring a blanket or low chairs and enjoy watching on an outdoor screen by the river at BBC!

Not sure what a cargo bike is? We’ll have electric cargo bikes available for test riding before the movie. Or, come by the shop and we’ll take you for a spin!

Drag Boat Races at Haystack Reservoir @ Haystack Reservoir

Columbia Drag Boat Association brings the exciting sport of drag boat racing to Haystack Reservoir the weekend of August 23-25.  Bring your beach chair and enjoy the thrill of high speed boats on a beautiful body of water with mountain views.  Haystack Reservoir will be closed for public boating but there will be race viewing areas with food vendors and entertainment.  Camping will be allowed at the Forest Service Haystack Campground on the east shore and at the Fourth Shore Group Campground.  Camping will not be allowed in the West Shore Campground from 12pm 8/23 until 6am 8/26.  The boat launch on the east shore will be open on Friday and Monday.

La Pine’s 9th Annual Coop and Garden Tour invites you to see La Pine’s Best Chicken Coops, Gardens and Ponds.  Come see how intrepid gardeners are growing stuff in our High Desert climate and dirt.  And… you can see all the ways chickens are being cared for, get acquainted with the differing breeds and learn how to enjoy your own eggs raised at home.  Some of the hosts on the tour also raise rabbits, goats, swine, turkeys, or other exotic birds.  The Tour Books sell for $10 per car and include a map to all of the host sites with their descriptions.  You can also enter to win a raffle for either a cold case or a chicken tractor.  There will be apprx. 20 locations on the tour.

Art In The High Desert @ Old Mill District

Ochoco Gravel Roubaix @ Good Bike Co.

Good Bike Co. invites you to Central Oregon for The Ochoco Gravel Roubaix.  This event is an OBRA Gran Fondo Style gravel bicycle race through the stunning Ochoco National Forest featuring 80 and 45 mile loops.  The finish line party will be open and free to the public and feature food, live music, beer garden, Salsa Bike Demo’s and more!  All proceeds go towards cycling opportunities in Crook County.
