“An original exhibit exploring the power of water in the High Desert opens at the High Desert Museum on Saturday, April 27. Desert Reflections: Water Shapes the West weaves together science, history, art and contemporary issues to explore the role of water in the region’s past, present and future.
Much like water permeates and sculpts every corner of the landscape, the art of Desert Reflections will extend from the Spirit of the West Gallery throughout the Museum’s interior and exterior spaces. Presentations from multiple artists will create an immersive experience, from visual art alongside the Museum’s stream to large-scale art pieces inside the Museum.

Central Oregon Beer Week is a celebration of Bend and Central Oregon’s thriving craft beer culture! There are 29 active breweries in Central Oregon with more on the way as well as fantastic venues that focus on quality craft beer…Check out the website for the weeklong activities and locations including SmashFest.
The High Desert Museum invites you to “Bird World: Insights for Humans from the World of Birds“.. Just how different are birds from us? Approaching bird behavior from surprising angles, bird expert Noah Stryker will explore the astonishing homing abilities of pigeons, extraordinary memories of nutcrackers, self-image in magpies, particle physics of starling flocks and other mysteries. Noah reveals why birds do what they do and how we can relate.
McMenamins invites you to a FREE concert by Dive Bar Theology in Wednesday, 5/22 at 7pm. This Bend based trio brings high energy vibes to the stage. They have a unique indie-pop take on well-known songs and a contagious groove. All ages are welcome to Father Luke’s Room – Show starts at 7pm.

Gather your friends and family to stroll through the galleries of Sisters and head over to Hood Avenue between 4 and 7 p.m. for the monthly 4th Friday Art Stroll, sponsored by Sisters Arts Association. You will be surrounded by beautiful art, good company, music, refreshments, demos, hors d’oeuvres and often, giveaways.
Music on the Green is Redmond’s version of a GREAT community block party. On July 24th, Down North will be playing. In addition to the FREE concerts with incredible musicians, the entire family can enjoy a vast selection of tasty food, drinks and desserts. The kids will love the inflatable bounce houses and all inclusive Hope playground. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and ENJOY!
Bring the family, pull up a blanket and enjoy the Summer Concert Series at The Backyard at Sunriver Resort! The Summer Concert Series will feature a different live band each concert day. Grab your bestie and take in the beauty of the Deschutes River as you embark on a tour of Bend that winds through the heart of the Old Mill District, through downtown, along the northern river canyon and finishes in River Bend Park. A mix of trails with some road sections, the course is well-marked with inspiring signs for optimal woman power.
Mt Bachelor invites you to celebrate a fantastic 2018-19 winter season with their Sunchaser Spring Finale Weekend. This event takes place the last weekend in May. A MOST favorite event will take place on Sunday – The Pond Skim Championships…you can’t miss this !!! Central Oregon Saturday Market is the largest gathering of local artists and crafters East of The Cascades! The market takes place every Saturday and Sunday starting Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day. It is located in Downtown Bend on NW Wall Street. Come shop where the “Seller is the Maker”.
The annual Kid’s Day in May event brings a day full of fun and games to The Village at Sunriver. The event will take place on Saturday, May 25 from 11am-4pm.
This fun filled event focuses on kids of all ages and includes numerous games and activities. Visit the petting zoo to get up close with your favorite animal, then jump to your heart’s content on the inflatable bounce houses. Experience the challenge of the Rock Wall or Power Jump; kids can get their face painted or grab some cotton candy. Don’t forget to head over to the fire fighters and police officers to see cool service vehicles and learn about their jobs. Bring the family out for some all-day fun that will be sure to create memories to last a lifetime.
The event is free to attend and the activities are $1 per ticket.
Portions of the proceeds benefit nonprofit organizations in South Deschutes County.
Be a part of the very first-ever TUMALO JAM! Set on private acreage just off Tumalo Road complete with a hayshed stage and plenty of grass for rambling, don’t delay for festivities featuring live bands, dancing, food trucks, drinks, raffle and a theater costume sale.
A limited number of tickets for this family-friendly event are available. Parking is free. All proceeds benefit the non-profit Cascades Theatrical Company. This event is ALL AGES with kids 12 and under free.
The High Desert Museum invites you to “Raptors of the Desert Sky”. Raptors take flight overhead in this intimate demonstration. Experience these powerful predators up close as wildlife specialists showcase the birds’ agility and grace. This program is a highlight of the Museum’s summer experience. Hawks, owls, falcons and turkey vultures soar from perch to perch directly over the crowd seated in a natural amphitheater nestled in the Museum’s pine forest. A Museum expert narrates the action and shares about the hunting strategies and natural behaviors of these spectacular birds of prey.

Happy Little Kids are Healthy Little Kids… so bring your kids out for a day of healthy fun. Children ages 3-10 years old are invited to join in on the Happy Little Kids Race, Saturday May 25 starting at 12pm, part of the PacificSource Kids Rock The Races.

SMaSH Fest returns to O’Kanes Square at McMenamins on May 15th. In addition to unique beer creations from more than a dozen CO Breweries, there will be great music by Chiringa and the Jess Ryan Band. SMaSH is an acronym for “Single Malt and Single Hop”. Why SMaSH? The idea is to break brewing down to its basic elements and emphasize the flavor of a single malt and single hop variety. SMaSH emphasizes the flavor of a single malt and a single hop, letting both the brewer and you understand what each bring to the beer.
Come to the first ever “Let’s Riff Fest 2019” at the Riff Taproom in the Old Box Factory. There will be great food, games, craft beverage collaborations and non-stop live music. “Live At The Vineyard” brings Doc Ryan & The Wychus Creek Band back by popular demand at Faith Hope & Charity Vineyards. Enjoy this evening of live music and dancing! Central Oregon School of Ballet presents the classic fairy tale Cinderella! Two shows only, May 25th and 26th, 2019 at Summit High Auditorium. Fall in love with Cinderella all over again as our heroine rises from oppressed servant girl to fairy tale princess! This show will feature Professional Guest Ballet Dancers from Seattle and Bend as well as the talented students of COSB. Experience this story through the language of classical ballet with beautiful new choreography, hand painted sets and gorgeous new costumes. This production features a vibrant cast of characters! From the hilarious antics of the wicked Step Sisters, to the romance of Cinderella and her Prince this production is sure to delight you and your family.

The Sisters Stampede is a XC mountain bike race occurring each memorial weekend on Sunday. This thrilling race course features stunning views of the Three Sisters Mountains, and rolling singletrack scattered with Central Oregon lava rock. The course is mainly singletrack which will test riders’ strength and stamina. There are 25 different race categories.
A very unique start/finish will be located just steps away from Three Creeks Brewing, which will be launching Stampede Ale earlier in the season for the event and will host the after-race party. Five Pine Lodge, which is on the same campus, will provide lodging. Camping is also available in the city park, just blocks from the start/finish line. In addition Blazin Saddles in Sisters will be hosting their annual block party and packet pickup.
VROOM! VROOM! That’s the sound of cars revving up for the Battle Buddies of Central Oregon Car Show and BBQ. Come enjoy the day at the Bend Elks Lodge with great food, awesome cars, great music, cool raffle prizes and a silent auction. You will be supporting a wonderful all-volunteer group – Battle Buddies of CO whose mission is to prevent Veteran suicide through canine companionship and training. Spread the word and bring family and friends to support our vets and their amazing companions at this fun event.
Dog Day in May in The Village at Sunriver is a popular event with local and traveling dogs, and their human companions.
Start the day with the 5k Poker Dog Walk/Run at 10am. In addition to getting in some exercise, you’ll be benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and SW Washington. Afterward, join the canine festivities at the Village starting at 11am. Activities include amateur dog talent contests, Humane Society adoptions, and vendors offering a range of canine products and services.
Enjoy one to the BEST bands on the West Coast at the Summer Concert Series at Sunriver Resort. The High Street Boys will be playing in The Backyard at the resort on May 26th, 6:30pm… Bring the entire family for this FREE concert. You can dance in the grass, throw down a blanket and revel in the beauty of Sunriver! Delicious food and local brews, wine and cocktails will be offered during each concert.
Central Oregon’s largest annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Deschutes Memorial Gardens on Monday, May 27th at 1:00pm. The program will be: “Honoring our men and women in the military and the memory of all our loved ones who have sacrificed their lives for their country”. Speaker of the day will be Chief Meteorologist, Bob Shaw, and a U.S. Navy Veteran, followed by a program sponsored by VFW Post #1643.

The Old St. Francis History Pub presents: “Ancient Oregon: Where the Dinosaurs Didn’t Roam”. If there is one thing on which people of all kinds agree, it’s that dinosaurs are awesome. Unfortunately, Oregon doesn’t have any! Even so, the Beaver State makes up for its lack of T. rex with a fascinating and extensive fossil record. Join us for a tour through our state’s literally explosive prehistory, from its start in the Blue Mountains to the end of the Ice Age in your own backyard. This program features: Leonard Finkelman, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Linfield College and graduate student in paleontology at the University of Oregon
